Founded in 2026, the Richmond Pride Band was born out of a simple realization: while Richmond is known for its thriving arts scene and diverse LGBTQIA+ community, it has lacked a dedicated space for queer musicians to unite. We’re stepping in to fill that gap, establishing Richmond’s first-ever queer and gay concert and pep band.

Our Goals:

• Create an Inclusive Space: To provide a safe, supportive, and judgment-free environment where LGBTQ+ musicians and allies of all skill levels can dust off their instruments, play, and grow together.
• Champion Visibility: To represent the Richmond queer community with pride, performing at local festivals, parades, and community events to show the power of queer artistry.
• Build & Strengthen Community: To foster deep, lasting connections among our members and the wider Richmond area, creating a chosen family that supports and uplifts one another both on and off the stage.
• Deliver Diverse Music: To bridge the gap between traditional classical and pep band music…blending symphonic concert pieces and high-energy stand tunes with vibrant pop hits & legendary drag & queer anthems.
